I've been a member of UNISON and then MiP in the past. I'm just wondering if there are others more suited to our profession at management level. Any suggestions greatly appreciated?

Where do you work? I have been a union steward and even chair of branch in the past - but to have any real influence the union has to be recognised by the workplace, just joining a random Union may give you some benefits (legal support) for example but i dont think it would have real influence on other wider issues - such as a restructure which may make you redundant.

Thanks for the response. I work in the NHS and my organisation has a recognition agreement in place for the big healthcare / public sector unions. I was just wondering if any are better suited to our type of role or pretty similar.

Hi Jamieson MiP is probably the place for you, assuming that you want a real Trade Union, affiliated to the TUC and not some outfit that is a puppet of NHS managers. I don't know whether any such puppet exists in the NHS. Plenty have been formed in other sectors over the years.

Yes MiP was the one i found, linked to Unison,(I think this may have been Funpo or Fumpo many years ago), UNITE looked to be the other alternative, might be worth finding someone in each and having a chat.
