Good day folks!

I am reaching out for recommendations: trusted Training providers.

Specifically - Working at height - dangers, different types, including working at height from MEWP's - (I already have MEWP operators trained in-house, so not MEWP training).

Also dynamic risk assessment - being able to adequately assess risks as a team member on site rather than rely on the safety advisor to provide.

The training will be for 10-12 employees over 2 sessions to cover both shifts.

Hi GeeKay

You have a very specific scope for this training, though without any indication of how long each session should last.

Your scope is sensible, but unlikely to be delivered by any training provider from their existing portfolio of ready to roll packages, unless you are VERY lucky.

Which means that you face paying at least as much for the development of the training as for its delivery UNLESS some provider treats the development as a loss leader with a view to offering similar to other clients - something I have done in the past, but with the recognition at the time that it was quite a gamble.

Would it be sensible for you to do this inhouse instead? That way it would be easier to make it bespoke to the systems that your workforce are used to implementing and could be tailored more closely to typical tasks that they do.

Hi GeeKay,

If you have seen any of my many posts on the subject of risk assessment you will know that, from experience, I would council very strongly against what most people call dynamic risk assessement and risk assessments completed by safety advisors.  Regardless of how much managers my expect both of these, neither is something accepted by HSE or in the courts in my experience.

I, personally, would be very sceptical of any consultants offering a training package on the subject of dynamic risk assessment (other than blue light services).

Agree 100% with Holiday - as an inspector "Dynamic RA" usually meant, "making it up as we go along with no real thought" personally with lots of the teams i work with i talk about "Dynamic Control" were i get them to think about the what may appear to be the same job, but actually when you look closely there may be differences, for example public risk, so you might need to apply slightly different controls, but we have thought about those and written them into our RAs before we start.
