Posted By peter gotch To those of you who have responded to my previous postings, but who have not yet had any final positive or negative response, please bear with me as things are still moving on!! Babtie Group is a 3000 strong technical and management consultancy with offices throughout the UK and overseas. We advise clients in a wide range of industries including power, transport, utilities, healthcare, education, docks, mines, prisons, defence and waste management. More details at www.babtie.com Our health and safety resources include 25 staff, 14 of whom are corporate members of IOSH whilst we also have specialists in disciplines such as ergonomics, UKAS asbestos laboratory, legionella assessments, together with a strong team of environmental scientists. We are expanding our team via recruitment and internal development. We have successfully used this forum to find good quality candidates for various posts including, most recently, our Corporate Health and Safety Adviser. The majority of our H&S advisers are allocated to SafeSolutions@Babtie which delivers services both to Babtie and an expanding number of clients in private and public sectors, eg major contractor, various national and local government bodies etc. We have a number of new opportunities: Regional H&S Adviser (South East) To be based in one of our offices in the South East. Suitable candidates are likely to have reached at least TechSP status, and may come from a wide range of backgrounds, possibly with H&S as a second career. Railway Engineering H&S Adviser We have a rapidly expanding workload in railway projects, and are looking to appoint an adviser who has extensive railway experience. The post holder will be based in Derby, Glasgow, Manchester or Croydon but can expect to travel extensively. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of our Contractor Assurance Case, coordinating the preparation of health and safety documentation relating to specific projects, and for taking the lead in advising our staff on health and safety issues relating to railway projects. They would also be involved in providing H&S-related consultancy to rail sector clients, eg track-side and depot audits, development of CACs etc. Suitable candidates will be qualified to at least TechSP or Diploma in Safety Management standard or be progressing towards this, possibly as a second career. Expertise in proprietary audit or risk assessment techniques, training, or construction/civil engineering would be advantageous. CDM and H&S Adviser One of our clients wants to outsource the provision of guidance to their construction project managers on how to implement CDM effectively on a range of projects, and has asked us to make proposals inclusive of nomination of a suitable candidate for an indefinite period which can be expected to be at least 12 months, probably much longer. This post would be based in the far North of Scotland, ie Caithness. Suitable candidates will be at least MIOSH or equivalent. Preferably RSP, with experience of major construction projects, and a detailed understanding of the practical implementation of CDM by all duty holders. Taking into account the ongoing expansion of our H&S professional needs we would consider either a permanent appointment or a sub-consultancy agreement. Construction H&S Adviser Another client wants to outsource the provision of H&S guidance on major construction projects for at least 2 months, probably much longer This post would be based at the other end of the UK, ie Devon! Suitable candidates will have attained MIOSH or equivalent status, or be close to this, possibly as a second career. Extensive experience of construction essential. Again we would consider either a permanent appointment or a sub-consultancy arrangement. Other vacancies We are still looking to further expand our safety case and fire safety capabilities. If you are interested in any of these positions, please send your CV to me preferably by email to peter.gotch@babtie.com or by post to Babtie Group Ltd., 95 Bothwell Street, Glasgow G2 7HX If you have already responded to our recent ads in the press or my previous postings on this forum, there is no need to reapply.

Posted By peter gotch Mags and anyone else! "Safety case" is jargon for specialist activities. Person specs for these personnel + fire specialists as follows: Safety Case Personnel Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, inputting into safety case work at licensed nuclear sites, railways etc. Experience of safety cases, HAZOPs etc desirable, though training will be available to less experienced candidates from an engineering, appropriate scientific, or H&S background. Fire Safety Adviser(s) Work both as project leader, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Expertise in fire risk assessments and / or fire safety engineering essential. Experience of defence, nuclear, prisons, and / or healthcare industries desirable. Peter
