Posted By David Muldoon Hello all There has been some discussion on this forum of late as to the value of holders of Part One only wrt the upcoming 'new' Diploma. As someone who works primarily in the Environmental Management field and who possesses Part One I am somewhat concerned that this 'may' become worthless in the future unless Part Two or some sort of conversion course is taken and passed. I'd rather not do Part Two if possible but if it needs doing then so be it. I dont hold TechSp or MIOSH at present and dont envisage going for it in the foreseeable future so that isnt a driver in this instance. Having had a look at Nebosh website and found out next to nothing, I'd like to ask if anyone knows exactly whats going on wrt the Part One/Two interface? Regards David

Posted By David Cameron David, If your primary interest is in the Environment then why not go for the Environmental Diploma and stay to that side of the field. If however your long term aim is to acheive CMIOSH after July next year then it would be good to take the part two tests within the next three years as therafter I beleive it will no longer exist. Your best bet is to seriously think of your aims and pick a route specific to it. Like for example if you beleive the Environment is the right field for you then consider the Institute of environmental management and Assessment (IEMA)in favour of IOSH. They to have acreditated courses but specificaly for the Environmental side of life and are currently working hard with IOSH over the crossover links between the two organisations. hope this helps?
