Posted By Brian Foley Hi, I am currently looking into the work opportunities that may exist as an Independent Accident investigator. I am looking to do my training(Root cause analysis) in the next few months and would be interested to know if the world of Health & safety has a requirement for individuals with such a skillset? and what terms and conditions said individual would be employed on(i.e. Contractor/permanent, per incident?) If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Brian F..

Posted By Darren Harris Hello Brian. There is work out there, just finding it is not as easy as finding any other job. I have just completed a comprehensive course in Pesonal Injury Accident Investigation. Finding work is the hardest bit but once you have a foot in the door it comes down to having a reputation about YOUR work. The work should then flow at about £35-£40/hr. Seek employment through Solicitors, Claims companies and Insurance companies to start with. Good luck. Let me know if you get any good leads as I am just starting out too. Regards, Darren Harris

Posted By Paul Gildernew Hi Brian, i read your post with interest. I would be concerned about the amount of work that would be available in this field as most HS advisors, consultants do accident investigations as do insurers etc i have completed the root cause course myself and it is ok but it does not invlove anything more than through investigation should. Sorry for being a bit negaitve but thats just my opinion. Best of luck
