Posted By Sylvia Tyler Check your qualifications out. Those with NEBOSH H & S Qualifications need not apply!! A NEBOSH Diploma is a NEBOSH H & S Qualification - that gets you membership of IOSH at Tech SP and MIOSH. If you mean the NEBOSH General Certificate only, make it clear! The NEBOSH General Certificate and Construction Certificate can lead to IOSH Tech SP. They are NEBOSH H&S Qualifications. If you are getting "free" advertising you could at least make an effort to find out the meanings and routes of Health and Safety qualifications. Even if you pay for posting - it's worth getting the facts right.

Posted By HR Department Dear Madam Thank you for your reply and comments. We would suggest that you read our advertisement again and note that the requirements are directed at the PS with design and construction experience as well as H & S qualifications. This criteria is consistent with that suggested in the CDM ACOP. We have the greatest respect for all NEBOSH qualifications and also MIOSH status which all our senior Planning Supervisors hold. With regard to your comments about free advertising, this is a serious advert which will hopefully attract ‘competent', Planning Supervisors. With all due respect we find your comments neither helpful or accurate and would suggest that your energies be applied elsewhere in the future.

Posted By Daniel Stonehouse I think this is yet another situation whereby 'NEEBOSH' means one thing to one person and something totally different to another. In this case I think ithe style of wording was a little unfortunate, as at first glance it does appear to belittle 'NEEBOSH' qualifications, whilst at the same time not specifying which one in particular. It won't be the first or the last time.

Posted By Robert Wise I'm with the HR department on this one! There are far too many Planning Supervisors out there without the correct balance of qualifications, experience and knowledge of the work. As an employer of Planning Supervisors I would NEVER employ someone who has NEBOSH qualifications/MIOSH who has no practical knowledge/experience of the construction industry and in particular the design process. On the other side I would also never employee a PS who has the construction/design experience and no H&S qualifications. Competence is a balance and there are too many palnning supervisors out there who do not have the requiste skills and experience, so I find it refreshing that an employer recognises this and frustrating that others do not recognise these essential requirements - perhaps this is why so many PS's have a bad reputition! Also why has the forum recently taken such exception to companies advertising for staff, I have read several such threads recently and cannot understand why people are objecting so strongly to such postings.
