Posted By John Murphy This new position will be responsible for undertaking health and safety pre-qualification assessments on contractors applying through the Council for tendered work and / or registration with the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS). In addition they will provide an advice line for contractors who have questions about the scheme including basic safety compliance and management issues. Reporting to the Safety & Emergency Planning Manager, this officer will be responsible for undertaking health and safety pre-qualification assessments on contractors applying through the Council for tendered work and / or registration with the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS). In addition they will provide an advice line for contractors who have questions about the scheme including basic safety compliance and management issues. The Council is keen to ensure this post holder is given the opportunity to start their safety career in an operational environment so they will spend approximately twenty per cent of their time providing a health and safety advisory service to Council Departments. They will assist in the implementation of corporate measures to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of the Council's employees, clients, members of the public and other persons who may be affected by the Council's activities. The successful candidate will hold a minimum of the NEBOSH National General Certificate, Diploma Part 1 or equivalent. See SHP for details or e-mail for details
