A position has arisen for a H&S Technician in the North East of England. With a technical, preferably manufacturing, background and corporate membership of IOSH, the applicant should have extensive knowledge of Risk Assessment (including COSHH, Manual Handling and Noise) and be able to demonstrate their ability to implement/manage a H&S Programme in a large facility. Excellent opportunity.

Steve I don't intend being as silly as to put myself forward for this post. I would however appreciate some advice. I work as a Senior Account Manager and have done so for 10 years. I am now lookingt at a change of career and am considering Health & Safety. I will undertake the General Certificate and then Level 4 Diploma, how realistic would it be to gain emploment in the North East, with these qualififcaiton although no real experience?
Thanks
Craig

Thanks for your enquiry. Obviously, as with most positions, whatever the discipline, prospective employers look for experience and hence my advice would be to try and complete the Diploma whilst engaged as a H&S Officer or similar (having already successfully completed the Cert) which will then give you the appropriate experience. There are, however, a few positions available where they do not require as much experience but the salary generally reflects this.
Hope this helps
Steve
