What's happened to the copyright thread?

Geoff
As a wild guess, I'd say it has been removed for breaching the acceptable use guidelines.

I would expect someone responsible for this site to have the courtesy to advise me of that. I'm not aware I put up a message that breached guidelines.
Moderator/s - Are you going to let me report on the toolbox talks I 'won' on ebay, after all that was the only reason I bid for them!

Nick,
Your voice or no voice I guess!
Hoping that things can only get better!

Geoff,
I haven't heard either, but I guess SOMEONE must have made a complaint.
A shame - I was just starting to enjoy myself!!
Please do let us know how you get on with your Toolbox Talks - it would be a shame for all this discussion to fall away prematurely just because SOMEONE has thrown all his toys out of the pram!

Hi Freddy, I suspect you are not entirely innocent in all this!!
However, I'm not wasting my time discussing copyright (and there were a number of valid points on this thread) if it is to be arbitrarily removed and without the courtesy of even the briefest communication to explain why.
I do now know that a training establishment that prides itself on very quick grades is taking legal action against some transgressors. And I am still waiting a response from Ian reference sarcastic remarks.

If your behaviour was appropriate, then your postings would still be here - irrespective of who complained.
Geoff
It appears you only get informed of the matter if you are the one that has breached acceptable use guidelines. Therefore you must not have breached them (I haven't been contacted either).
Regards
Nick
PS thanks to everyone that has emailed their support to me today over this matter.

Gentlemen
You are right to question the removal of a Thread without those posting being made aware of the action.
The Moderators had been watching the original thread and were becoming concerned that it was moving towards an unacceptable situation; IOSH cannot accept threads that imply a breach of copyright.
However the circumstances changed when some of the postings began to be directed towards some individuals who were expressing a personal view on the subject. At that time the Moderators decided that the Acceptable Use Guidelines were being breached. The AUGs state:
"1. Users must not antagonise other users of this service or post any information that could be considered defamatory, obscene, abusive or unlawful. You may be held liable for the content you post."
By agreement one of the Moderators removed the Thread and having prepared an e-mail to all those who had posted on the original thread thought it had been sent. Later on when others saw this posting the original Moderator did some checks to find his system had crashed around the time he had sent the e-mail.
The Moderators apologise for this glitch and perceived rudeness in dealing with the original posting.
As for this current posting the Thread is once again straying into personal comments against individuals and as this unacceptable on a professional Institution's Forum the Moderators have locked the Thread.
Those posting on these Forums must remember "These discussion forums are intended for professional discussion and debate on a variety of issues relating to health and safety in the workplace. By using the discussion forums, users are deemed to have agreed to the acceptable use guidelines. IOSH members are reminded that they must comply with the Code of Professional Conduct." and personal attacks devalue the benefits of the Forum.
