Posted By Tony Gladman I may need to work in USA on various projects. Could anybody advise best place to start looking for US H&S Legislation / Regulations. Any tips on any known differences between UK and US practices would also be most helpful. Regards Tony

Posted By Philip McAleenan Tony, start here, http://www.osha.gov/ US legislation is very prescriptive in nature. Look up all the relevant legislation for your industry. It will detail the requirements for working practices, training, PPE, safety equipment, methods etc. The OSHA site also has sections where interpretations have been posted. If you are unsure of what a section of thge code means, you can post a query to OSHA. Philip

Posted By Harry Tugwell Hi Tony
Although OSHA is where you would find the legislative requiremnts regarding the US - just be aware that California is covered by CALOSHA and has a few quirks.

Posted By Mark R. Devlin To expand on Harrys point, about half of all US states have their own "State Plans". Try looking at www.asse.org which is the US version of IOSH.

Posted By Andrew Lochlyn Ure Tony Try the American Society of Safety Engineers as well - www.asse.org - there is a reciprocal agreement between IOSH and ASSE, so it may be worth checking out. Good luck Andrew Ure
