Posted By David Simms Health & Safety Professionals x 3 Career graded £20,295 - £27,411 depending on qualifications and experience Health & Safety Development Officer Social Care & Health - Health, Safety and Risk Services After an internal reorganisation and increased investment in the Health and Safety function, the Social Care and Health Directorate has exciting opportunities to join our pro-active and friendly team. With support from the Team Manager (Health, Safety & Risk Management) you will be innovative in your approach and play a full role in the team developing and supporting the Health, Safety & Risk Management function. Advising on a variety of issues with colleagues, you will also be interacting with service users in the community assisting in the delivery and improvement of services in Social Care. You will be required to identify training needs and construct, develop and deliver accredited and non-accredited training programs in all areas of Health & Safety. You will be encouraged to explore and develop new methods of delivering training and of generally selling the Health & Safety message. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact David Simms (Health, Safety & Risk Services Manager) on (0116) 2528017. Corporate Health & Safety Adviser Central H&S Unit - Resources, Access and Diversity Following the appointment of a new Head of H&S, the Central H&S Unit is reshaping itself to align the team’s resources with its redefined core roles and responsibilities. In addition to helping the Corporate H&S Unit deliver all aspects of the corporate H&S action plan, you will also take a lead role in the design and delivery of a ‘single-issue’ audit programme looking at the significant risks across the organisation. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact James Royston (Head of Health & Safety) on (0116) 2527542. Health & Safety Adviser Regeneration and Culture – Health, Safety and Risk Management Team There’s never a dull moment here in the Regeneration and Culture Department and as a result we have expanded our small but effective health and safety team to meet these challenges. The Department’s activities range from providing live entertainment in our parks, to repairing the city’s roads and keeping the streets clean. The mix of work will involve both operational advice and training. Some experience of the CDM Regulations would be helpful but not essential. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Elaine Sherlock (Team Leader - Health, Safety and Risk Management) on (0116) 2333031. All three posts are career graded and at the lower levels offers the interested and enthusiastic applicant the chance to develop their experience whilst undertaking training to achieve accredited professional status. At the higher level, the posts offer suitably qualified and experienced staff the chance to fully utilise their skills and knowledge in a dynamic environment. Posted By Kaye Macleod Hi David, These jobs sound absolutely ideal to me however moving isn't really a possibility for me at the moment. Could you advise me on the best places to look for these types of jobs in local authorities?

Posted By mark ryan I am currently studying for a degree in Health, Safety and Environmental Management, at the Nottingham Trent University. I am starting my second year in September after achieving good grades in all modules. My thoughts are now turning to my placement year which I hope to start in June 2006. I would greatly appreciate any help, advice or offers. I am also seeking part time work in the midlands area with a hope to gain some experience. Thanks, Mark Ryan. markoryano@hotmail.com

Posted By Diane Thomason I think you mean DPA policy Jim! Is it not permissible to post this information with the colleague's agreement? - it would then be just like posting your own contact details. cheers Diane
