Posted By Nick Higginson Hi everyone,
After years of talking about it, I have decided to set up as a consultant.
I have worked as a consultant for a plc for nearly 3 years, so doing the job is not a problem. The area where I am struggling is marketing - how do I get in clients?
I have done the basics - website, business cards, cold calling, targeted letters, yell.com, business link, bank, accountant etc. etc.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Kind regards
Nick

Posted By Hugh J. Maxwell Hello Nick. I just read your thread. Spoke to you a few years ago when you were undertaking your RRC studies. Just a quick line to say good luck mate and well done for taking the plunge. From what I know of you, I have no doubt that you will do well and give real value for money. Anyone out there who can help - here is a good guy to use !!
Best regards,
Hugh Maxwell

Posted By Ian Cook Hi Nick
From reading the Alan Sugar column in the Daily Mirror regularly, he often gets asked this question and his answer is more or less always the same.
He says the best way is to advertise the products being offered in various magazines relating to the subject (in our case, SHP, Safety Management etc.?).Not sure how much it would cost, but at least by this method you'll know it is being targeted to the right people. It might be an initial huge outlay, but once the ad is in place, people will ring it.
And I'll just throw my tuppence in as well. Nick is currently guiding me through the jungle that is Nebosh Level 4 Diploma and I'm damn glad I know I can ask him anything when I get stuck. Good bloke to have on board.
Good luck with your new venture
right..back to this revision..
