Posted By Paul Musson Hi... first post on this forum I'm a Safety Engineer, with about 17 years experience doing functional safety assessments (mainly platform level risk, hazard and accident assessments on aircraft platforms). However, I have no formal - professional qualifications. I'm considering taking a course such as DipOSH. This is mainly because the type of activities I'm increasingly being involved in are OSH related.
Can any of the wiser people here offer any advice. I'm loath to have to start again on a new sector of safety, when I am actually fairly well versed in the techniques, I just need a domain language change.

Posted By Linda Crossland-Clarke Hi
Now, if you are looking for the accreditation of your current skills, then an NVQ 4 in H&S Practice would be a good option. We have worked with quite a few safety engineers, who found the course fit their requirements.
I will send you some info direct.
Regards. Linda SHE Knows.

Posted By Richard Altoft DipOSH is recognised by IOSH and is aimed at practical experienced h&S pros. Partly based on projects that can be completed in own time and workplace. Well worth a look R

Posted By Adam Do an NVQ 4 in Occupational safety and health gives the same status as NEBOSH level 4 diploma and only costs 2k. all work done in the work place, just creating portfolios to evidence your competence.
