A six month contract vacancy has arisen at Dstl (the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory) Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent for a Safety Advisor to support the Dstl Estates SHEF (Safety, Health, Environment and Fire) team on site. There may be potential for long-term employment, dependant upon performance during the six months contract.
The successful applicant should have at least 3 years experience in delivering SHEF advice and support, including carrying out and reporting on inspections, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, providing training and investigating incidents. IOSH Tech SP or equivalent would be an advantage.
This will be a hands-on role where you will be expected to advise on a diverse range of specialist SHEF subjects, sometimes in explosive environments, such as fire safety, work at height, confined spaces, pressure systems, electrical safety, permits to work, asbestos, waste management and construction safety. Therefore a background in civil engineering and M&E would be an advantage.
Successful applicants must also be able to work as part of a team and deliver results, be able to work unsupervised, have a flexible attitude and have effective oral and written skills including IT literacy. Experience of working in the MoD would also be a distinct advantage.
This post is only open to UK Nationals. Applicants must be willing to undergo and satisfy the current MoD security vetting procedures prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
