Posted By Jobe Hunt Hello everyone. Do Employers have vacancies to post anymore or do we just have candidates now?

Posted By Alan Haynes It sometimes seems like that - but if this Forum was split int two forums [fora?] that were "Jobs Available" and "Jobs Wanted" it would be so much easier to find out

Posted By Jobe Hunt So true. Does anyone know why this isn't the case?

Posted By ITK Without being disparaging, I think there is now a saturation of persons with the NEBOSH Certificate looking for full time Health and Safety positions where it is a qualification aimed at supervisors and managers, not full time Health and Safety professionals, thus giving the impression that there are too many people for too few jobs. The influx of persons with the NEBOSH Certificate is driving the cost of salaries down. For example there is a safety position with a local authority advertised further down this board offering £15K for people with the certificate! There are plenty of vacancies, check the SHP every month, I do not know of many MIOSH people out of work.

Posted By David P. Johnson The only problem is, people with just the NEBOSH Certificate find it difficult to step up the ladder. Take me for example, I was in post for two years as an Administration Manager/H&S Adviser for tw years in a recruiment agency - my post wasn't diverse enough in terms of responsibility to complete the diploma, and it didn't afford me enough experience to move into a role where I could become academically qualified for CMIOSH. I've now resigned work, and signed an 18 month contract as a volunteer with the CVS to complete the three diplomas - NEBOSH H&S and Environment, plus IQA! If this doesn't work - I'm buggered!
