Does anyone know of any websites or agencies in Canada that could help with looking for employment please? I am looking to relocate there within the next 6 - 12 months.
Regards

The best site I've seen is www.workopolis.com, although there are listings on the www.csse.org site (the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering). If you can't access the jobs site from the main page, try one of the Chapters web pages.
Good luck.

Hi, I'm sorry to highjack this thread but does anyone know how the health and safety industry in Canada differs from ours in the UK.
Does anyone know if it is pretty much the same, i.e. are UK qualifications recognised over there? How do the wages compare? etc.
If anyone could help I would be grateful. I will be applying for my visa at the end of the year and am hoping to go and work out there for a year from April/May time. Whilst I would work in a different inductry if reqired, I really would like to continue working in health and safety.
Would work in Canada couunt towards my CPD points?

Canadian qualifications can differ considerably, employers often look for CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional, see www.csse.org). IOSH qualifications are recognised by most multi national organisations, though. In the UK I continue to sustain both. For CRSP you require specific CSSE learning and examination, there is no IOSH reciprocity.
Wages are similar in most industries here and in Canada. Similar to the UK, there are regional variations (i.e. south vs northeast) and there are industry premiums (oil). Wages are higher between the cities of Toronto and Calgary, than either further west or east (Vancouver or the Maritimes). Dayrates in Manitoba and Saskatchewan can parallel rates in Nova Scotia, though.
Hope this helps/Paul
