I am currently a H&S Advisor for a charity in the north west looking after vulnerable adults. Due to our size, no of sites and future expansion plans I am currently looking at putting together proposals to expand my department. I am looking to recruit someone at beginner level, to train up etc to carry out inspections, admin tasks, assist in investigations and risk assessments etc.
Not sure how to pitch it and what salary would be advisable, does any one have any information that could help?
Thanks.

Hi Sarah,
If you get up and running with this idea, it could be just what I am looking for. See Poacher Turned Gamekeeper thread.
May I suggest that you make a financially costed case to the charity for the assistance you seek, identify the role, responsibility and level of qualification. As you seem to suggest you are prepared to train the person in this role, cost of training should be included in costing, depending on location salary around 15k seem reasonable if coupled to training provision. ie. NVQ, National Diploma.
Armed with the above, approach the charity before budgets are cast in concrete and hope your needs are given higher priority than others.
Hope this helps a little.
Paul.
