Great opportunity: health and safety advisor position in Scotland: we are recruiting at present

Good morning all
I work for an environmental enforcement agency and we are in the process of recruiting a health and safety advisor for our North region. The post involves a wide and interesting variety of work, providing advice, training and guidance to field, boat, laboratory and office-based staff.
A proactive and positive approach to health and safety management is essential. Occupational hygiene, occupational health or ergonomics qualifications and experience would be an advantage.
The preferred locations are Aberdeen or Dingwall, however there is flexibility within the North of Scotland.
Full details of the post and the application form are available on the vacancies section of our website www.sepa.org.uk. Please do not send me CVs directly!!

Had a look, I think you will struggle to get or hold onto someone with the qualifications and skills you are looking for in light of the salary scale on offer.

Hi Pat
Thanks for the useful feedback, that was really helpful.
Does anyone else in the public sector (or even you well-paid bods in the private sector...) have any comments on salary ranges for advisor level posts, as the salary range seems comparable with similar posts advertised elsewhere.
Any help gratefully received!!
Judith

I don't expect you would get someone with the desirable as well as the essential requiremnts for the salary on offer - but you never know.
That said, for what appears to be a relatively junior safety adviser post based in Scotland with reasonable flexibility on location, i don't think the salary is too wide of the mark. If you had a range of £22k to £30K rather than approx £25k I suspect you would get a reasonable amount of interest from folk with a reasonable level of experience.

I have 4 years experience but qualify in june, it's a Univ PgDipOHSM, I'm not an IOSH Member yet I have an HND in Applied BioScience and BSc in Biochem, I don't think that this position would even appeal to me purely on the basis of the salary and I am not fully safety qualified
