Posted By Jay Joshi Louise, The NEBOSH General Certificate is not expected to equip the awardee with "in depth knowledge" of health & safety legislation. You may want to refer to the NEBOSH website for the details at:- http://www.nebosh.org.uk/awardsnew.asp?ID=5 It states that, "The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a qualification designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities (eg. managers, supervisors and employee representatives) to discharge more effectively their organisational duties and functions. Posted By TBC I think Louise knows what she wants in a H&S Advisor without everyone telling her what to do. Lots of knowledge can be obtained before even getting the NEBOSH cert or indeed any other bit paper to put your fancy letters after your name.

Posted By Paul Bellis Bit worrying the last comment, I wonder if thier solicitors etc are also employed with out fancy letters etc -they could have gained lots of experience without qualifications......NOT. I would agree with previous posts - a General certificate is a grounding in HS, and suitable for practitioners in low risk environments, unless they have access to more qualified advice. I feel another rant comming on -but been down this road before.... Louise I would have been interested in the role - but Hull unfortunately is too far Paul

Posted By Salus Good one TBC, Louise already works for people who know what they want and how to get it.There was a CMIOSH on the discussion forum 2 to 3 weeks ago who wanted to know simple answers to WAH,not a good advert for the chartered route, and competency issue. Even if they did not know the answers they should have known where to get them from. Paul, shame about Hull being to far.
