I gained the NEBOSH Gen. Cert. Last year and Iam currently going through the PG Cert at Strathclyde Uni.
On graduating, Iam told I will be entitled to corporate membership of IOSH.
Iam currently an Installations manager ( kitchens ) but Iam also designated as the Health and safety " advisor" for Scotland, Offering advice to installers, colleagues and clients , conducting research, recommendations, etc etc .(a H&S Manager in all but name)
I am a mechanical and Production engineer to trade and have a wealth of valuable trade and construction site experience.
Anyway....
I see all these saleries being offered in H&S management and I am on less than £30k at the moment. This may rise (a little) shortly but I dont see me being offered a full time H&S managers job. I see this as my way forward.
Money isn't the big issue ( believe it or not ) I just need to use my experience and academic knowledge, and not waste the time I spent working to get them.
In the words of the Song....." is there anybody out there? "

Iam in Glasgow, but with the new H&S position, I will be expected to travel around Scotland. I wont mind the travelling and staying over, but the "renumeration" makes it not worthwhile. I enjoy the work I do, and really enjoy ( believe it or not ) the H&S side. But current workloads are far too much ( around 55 - 65 hours PW - and yes I know about the working rule :o) ) - especially with the study time needed for the Post grad course.
