i am a health and safety consultant for a small company (approx 20), they asked me about providing some hr issues, i have nt done anything specifically in hr, however i told him they are closely linked, h and s would be under the human resources dept etc, all about managing people , they are certain things like arranging working hours/shifts that affect health and safety, what other issues might i have to contend to ? i think its a good idea and would be great for my cpd?

hello - I have responsibility for HR in my current job but am from a H&S / general management background. I am not a HR professional but seem to get by. The only problem I find is that there is a bit of a clash of roles - information gained in Occupational Health reviews / risk assessments etc then automatically passes over to the HR role which I think is unethical.

On the other hand there are definitely some parts of the roles that complement each other. Our company does have the benefit of having another competent personnel professional so I tend to get involved in return to work interviews only on a day to day basis but then become more involved when we need to research a specific subject.
