Posted By Anthony Kelly I'm likely to be moving to Ireland in the next few months for family reasons and I'm very keen to continue my safety career over there. Other than registering with job boards that advertise jobs in Ireland, does anyone else have any suggestions about what to do? Has anyone worked with agencies that place people in Ireland? Are IOSH/ NEBOSH recognised out there? If not what else do I need to do? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Posted By Liam Mc Conalogue Hi Anthony, Well as you know the Celtic tiger is still going strong over here- although Leinster is mainly feeling its rather large financial effects. Regarding the legislation- fairly similar, with a few differences, the 2005 Act being the biggie- log onto the HSA website and download!! Regarding your query about IOSH/NEBOSH- yep they are both recognised. Good luck in your quest. Liam

Posted By Martin Turner Anthony, I have just read your message on the IOSH careers forum and can provide you with info on working as a SHE Practitioner in the Republic of Ireland having just reluctantly left a good project in Dublin to work in Paris. Depeding on your exp & quals there are opportunities however if your looking to make an immediate impact you'd need know something about the roles and duties of the PSCS & PSDS, although knowledge and exp of the CDM / Planning Supervisors role which is known as PSDS H&S Coordination in the Republic of Ireland and preferably with an engineering construction background would greatly enhance your prospects. For more info drop me a line together with you CV to mjtexpat@gmail.com I can't promise anything but but may be able to give you some advice in helping you secure employment and recommend you to one of my contacts. Good luck - Martin Turner (CMIOSH)
