Following the highly acclaimed launch of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, we now have 500 employees based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing and head office facility at Goodwood. You will join a highly motivated team committed to creating and delivering the world’s finest motor car.

The opportunity has arisen for a twelve-month student placement within the environment, health and safety (EHS) department. This role will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the daily operations of an active team.

The successful applicant will support the EHS team in a wide range of activities, tasks and projects, focusing on safety and environmental risk assessments, management system support and identifying and implementing opportunities for improvements. There will also be a responsibility to help establish a document control system and gather research for specific projects including the potential for renewable energy technologies on the site.

Applicants will be studying towards a degree in environmental studies or health and safety, or a combination of the above.

You will have an eye for detail as well as sound communication skills.

To apply, please apply in writing, enclosing your CV and covering letter quoting ‘H&S Student Placement’, to:

Human Resources Department,
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited,
The Drive, Westhampnett,
Chichester,
PO18 0SH

Or by email to: christopher.chamberlain@rolls-roycemotorcars.com

Many thanks for all your responses so far.

Just a reminder that this valuable placement is still available and as yet unfilled.

John

Am I correct in saying that a similar position was offered last year and it took an age to fill?

Hi David,

Sort of true. Each year we offer placements across the business for up to a year's duration, including one in the EHS team.

Last year the placement was awarded to an EHS undergraduate from a southern England university, and she will be with us until August, having shown the initiative to take a year out from her studies for the opportunity to gain the experience (and earn some cash!).

In the 3 years that the factory has been producing vehicles it has often been a challenge to find the right candidate for this placement.

There are reasons for this. In particluar, the OSH, EHS degree course structures only seem to allow for placements up to a couple of months. At Goodwood, it takes this time to get the person settled in to the scheme of things after which it all starts to make sense and provide mutual value.

I think it is also important to note that there are not that many people studying for EHS degree qualifications, especially those fitting the 'typical' student mould.

So if you are studying a degree related to occupational health and safety or environmental management, be bold and get in touch.
