Posted By Robert Jackson All, Could someone please give me some impartial advice on taking the NEBOSH Cert in Construction. I see most of the jobs on the soon to be abolished Careers Forum asking for this. is it the one to have, is it difficult to pass, I have been involved in a few CDM projects if that helps, how much does it cost etc etc many thanks Rj

Posted By Martin Keeler Yes the NEBOSH Construction cert is useful to have.If it was easy to pass it would be worthless. Costs range from about £1500- £2200. Hope this helps. Regards Mart

Posted By Salus Robert, I think you can sit the examinations without attending any course, cost around £120, full course £1500. I would sugegst doing this after you know the relative regs, have some construction experiance, know what type of answers NEBOSH are looking for and get some previous exam papers. At least if you fail you will know what to expect next time and have only lost £120 instead of the cost of a full course. It can be done.Good luck

Posted By Diane Hi Trevor, If you get a copy of Health & Safety at work by Phil Hughes (usually £39.99) you'll find everything you need to pass the exam. It's the book the tutors work to - in general. It has practice questions at the end of each Unit which follow the type of, and way that questions are asked in the actual exam. I found it worth it's weight in gold ! Good Luck.

Posted By DP Hiya Robert, I’m currently on the course and enjoying it. I’m a Logistics Safety Manager and took the course for development purposes and my CPD Points. If you have a construction background it’s should not be too difficult for you. I struggled with site terminology but the lads on the course put me right. The cost mentioned in other responses seems a bit high. I shopped around and got it for £750 at M.A.N.C.A.T. in Manchester.

Posted By Emmanuel Can anyone then recommend how to register for this self study exams? Is a training provider required to assist with this or one could carry on registrations by one self? Regards EUU

Posted By Simon Watson Yes there is a distance learning programme, there are two types internet learning and your normal home study book learning. You can have either of these with or without tutor help at a price. I prefer the internet learning as it is more interactive. You should google a company called RRC (Rapid Response Collage) or Woodland Grange these service providers are highly recommended, however a little pricey.
