Posted By John T I have just completed my General Certificate and although I should probably wait till August for my results I am thinking about taking some time out to complete my Construction Certificate and then the new fire course as a lot of jobs seem to need these qualifications. Would it be possible to complete these courses without any fire training or construction experience or would jumping straight into the Diploma include the two courses within it's sylabus? Any advice for someone embarking on a new career would be gratefully accepted.

Posted By Tomek Sladden Hi John, The Diploma would cover certain aspects of each, but the individual certificates will look in depth into each specific subject. More information will be studied above and beyond that of the Diploma. I work in a Fire Service Background and would say that the Fire Safety Cert would not require any background knowledge but as with anything, useful. The need for this certificate will be very apparent shortly with the new RRFSO due in Oct. BUT!!! you must be aware that depending on the county that you live in will depend on whether the local Fire Service will provide a commercial unit providing at cost the services that will be required. So for some companies this will be the best option, although granted may be more expensive than your cost it may prove more reassuring. I hope this helps (or confuses the matter more) LOL Tom
