Posted By Owen Tudor Hello I'm going for an interview and one of the duties is to attend HIRA meetings, can anyone tell me what they are. Another duty is the preparation of bridging documents, any ideas here? Thanks for the help. Owen

Posted By John Allen I think you may find that HIRA stands for Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment. These are common in the offshore energy industry but I’m sure they occur elsewhere: I think the title is self explanatory. Bridging Documents are also commonly used in the offshore world. They are particularly important where employees of one company go to work on an installation operated by another. The Bridging Document sets out responsibilities for safety and which employer’s procedures will apply under which circumstances. They are also used to bridge between emergency procedures where two installations are in combined operations mode or where a construction vessel such as a Diving Support Vessel has to operate within the 500m zone of a fixed installation. The United Kingdom Offshore Operators Association produces guidance and a template for Bridging Documents.
