I feel my careers come to a standstill with my current firm despite great money (£32000) I really need a challenge ! HELP !

Posted By Martin R. Bessant Hi,
Have you thought about doing a post graduate diploma or a MSc. part time using day release. I did a MSc in Environmental Science at Brunel University one day a week for two years plus a further two years for the dissertation and graduated in 1995. I found it complemented my safety qualifications and was very enjoyable. Had to pay for my own course and make some of the time up at work but found it a very worthwhile experience.
Good luck,
Martin.

Posted By garyh If not already joing IOSH and aim for the highest grade of membership you can; the CPD helps to push you along, I believe. Instead of doing a Diploma or similar you could do individual training things - keep records - eg you might do some COSHH or Risk training etc. By keeping good records of my training and responsibilities I have achieved CMIOSH with the NEBOSH certificate and not a Diploma.
Do you want career progression in your company or outside? You must make that decision.
It is rare for any one to build their job up and get well paid for it in my opinion, you may need to spread your wings.
Your career, your call!

Posted By Hazel Harvey Gary, Just to clarify things so that members don't get the idea you can get to CMIOSH without an accredited qualification. I take it you are also either a Graduate or Chartered Engineer and entered IOSH pre-1998 as a 'Topic Specialist'.?
