After completing an IOSH Managing safely course six years ago, I started an interested in changing from an engineering site supervisor position to one of full time safety. I moved to an offshore electrician job in 2000 in the North Sea where two years ago I was elected safety representative and this rekindled my drive for safety. Since then I have achieved, self funded, a NEBOSH certificate at credit level. I am very interested in moving to a full time safety advisor position and would like to know. If there are any of you offshore safety advisors out there. What would be the next step for me in two ways.

1, How should I progress my safety education to level 4?

2, How should I go about looking for a first full time safety position?

Forgot to add. Is it advisable to join IOSH and / or IIRSM at this stage for me?
