Thought I would pose the question to the one society that would be able to help.

Can anyone please give me any information on where I could take a train the trainer course to train the SMSTS Course?

Does anyone know if this can be done as a distance learning project or do I have to go to a training centre?

I have already tried the CITB web page but this only offers the actual training course itself.

All help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you

The requirements of an SMSTS tutor are attendance on a minimum 5 day instructional techniques course. National Construction College (part of CITB-ConstructionSkills) can provide this. You could also do a C&G one week course, C&G 7407 pt 1 for example, through a local college.

There are other criteria. e.g. Nebosh Construction cert (or NVQ4, NEBOSH Diploma, Degree in construction discipline), 6 years employment in the construction industry, 3 at management level and evidence of CPD. These criteria may change for next year.

After approval from SMSTS as a tutor, you then have to deliver through an approved SMSTS provider. If you wish to register as a provider there are more stringent criteria.

Thank you very much for this valuable information.

Hopefully I meet the criteria.

Thank you so much this has cheered my day up.

See I knew I would get the answers required.

Sorry KB, I should have checked this before my first response. Look at the following web page.

http://www.citb-construc...rovidersupport/smsts.asp
It gives the requirement for instructional techniques as a two-day course, but I know that this is about to change to five days. The rest of the information is correct and is likely to remain correct
