Congratulations

As with all things like this never give up - just be honest and put your good points forward.

Certainly for entry level positions I think most employers are looking to see if you are likely to be a good fit for the team an d whether you have the ability and desire to learn/develop.

Obviously for more senior positions experience is very important but again you must have the right fit for the business to make that step from 'got an interview' to 'got the job'

Fan dabby dozey!!! Congrats and hopefully this will be the beginning of a brilliant career!

Just remember the biggest mistake you could make going into the future is not to ask or seek advice!

Yes indeedy. I began my search about 9 - 10 months ago and it has taken some time to find the right job and to be offered it. Here in the North East, the H&S job market is pretty slow. But eventually I have got what I wanted. I am on my last day with my current employer today and start my new position on Monday because I have used up all my holidays. It has been quite frustrating at times, especially when you get feed back from an interview and find you came "a very close second" nice to know you are in the park, but no conselation. I used all avenues open to me to look for jobs, including this forum before the rules changed. I was frustrated by some agencies who asked for cv's and didn't follow up or one particular one who responded to my post on here, asked for my cv and then came back with "we don't cover your area" they would have known that if they had read the posting.
Having said that, my new job was obtained through an agency approaching me and I never saw the position advertised anywhere else, so for those of you getting frustrated with the search, keep at it. It all comes together in the end and since accepting my new position, I have had offers for 2 other posts I had previously interviewed for. I would say that early on, I probably failed due to interview technique and I think the practice I have had through the ones I didn't get helped out in the end.
Good hunting to you all.

Do you find it annoying you were so close .... I do. If feedback comes back and there's some elements you could improve on, it's scope to learn. But to get told oh nearly I find really frustrating.

It's Robert.

Maybe you should try and read the posts instead of having a go, due to a negative comment made about you on a previous post.

We should all be able to take criticism in this area, I hope as time goes on you start to understand this.

If it's just you that doesn't understand, then maybe it says something about you ?

I will not be responding to anymore of your jabs playful or not, Case closed.

Many thanks to Rob for his very unkind message.
I have been around a long time Rob and so am used to people like yourself who enjoy upsetting other users.
This forum as about health and safety, not having cheap stabs at people.

Robert,
I suggest you email me directly if you are going to be personal. It is unfair on other users to witness your evil comments.

Rob,

I agree....

Im sure aswell that we have all been to these interviews where we are asked Risk management questions and there is an "assistant interviewer" jotting down all the ideas....

Anyway, Well done Alice
