Hi,

I have seen some job offers requiring the HSE Managers to have an engineering degree along with HSE qualifications.

Now, I am qualified in NEBOSH NGC and carrying on to the next stage. My plan is to obtain a OHS Degree.

Is progressing in HSE without an engineering degree, a useless venture? Could somebody advise me please? If a degree is required, What would be a better choice to have along with HSE (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical etc..)?

No it is not useless to progress in health and safety without an engineering degree or for that matter any degree whatsoever. If you have experience in any field whether it be construction, engineering or occupational health that is worth more than a degree, because you are using or experience and complementing it with with health and safety knowledge. So you may want to explore possibilities in a particular field and then go for the NVQ4 or the Nebosh Diploma afterwards.

What is your experience and where are you based?
