I am currently qualified to NEBOSH General Certificate level, and I am studying for the NEBOSH Diploma on a part time basis at Bolton University, which I am funding myself. My main aim is to get back into the industry as this is the career I want to follow.

I started my employment at Pearson Vue in October 2005, were I work in the facilities department, alongside the health and safety manager, assisting in the implementation of new policies and procedures, I help to carry out risk assessments on new starters, disabled employees and also any expectant females who work for the company, I liaise with all the test centres that need any maintenance work to be carried out by contractors, I organise the collection and disposal of any faulty I.T. equipment from the test centres and also help out with any complaints from employees within the call centre.

Whilst employed at WJ Leigh & Co I gained three years experience in the field, and feel this has given me excellent ground base knowledge for a working environment. I have always thrived on problem solving and started this early on in my career were I helped to find solutions to problems that occurred from the manufacture of paints and varnishes, this was then carried forward to the health and safety department were I worked on reducing the emissions from the factory. I carried out workplace inspections and the evaluation of personal protective equipment. In various other roles I have undertaken in my career this has allowed me to work well as a team member, work well as an individual, organise and prioritise my workload.

Hi Tony,
Congratulations and good luck!
Although I cannot directly meet your request, I would like to add the following, hope it helps..

I started in a similar way (as I'm sure many did) but then I took a very low paid job heading up Safety for a local charity to gain the vital (but very hard to come by)experience to supplement the knowledge side. I see you are getting what sounds like a good grounding in our profession but at some stage you may well want to face the challenge- do you need to continue shadowing a safety professional or do you "learn the hard way" by being on your own- although you can get alot of advice and support from the people on these forums.
One thing I will stress though is NEVER STOP ACQUIRING KNOWLEDGE. This is a fascinating profession and one where if you don't keep up to date you will rapidly lose much effectiveness

Perhaps the title would have been better reading as "Another" rather then "A" job.

From my reading of the thread, the request is for help to find a different job, not about staying in the current one.
