Posted By lizzie1963 Hi there
I know this has been asked recently, but is there anyone who can offer some help with compiling my CV? Even better, are there any organisations that specialise in building CV's for H & S professionals?
My background is as an HSE inspector for 3 years and for the last 12 months I've been working as a Consultant and also delivering HSE's Workplace Health Connect service as an advisor. I have a Post grad diploma in Occ H & S and also NVQ level 4 - I would assume these are quite good qualifications! However, I'm having difficulty trying to convey in the CV the experience I have as an Inspector covering a broad base of industry. The problem I seem to be coming across when registering with employment agencies, is that they only see the length of time I've been working in H & S. In reality, as an Inspector, the training is so intense that it would not be an exaggeration to say that my 3 years experience is probably worth about 10 years if I'd been a H & S officer working for a company.
To be honest, any help would be appreciated as I'm trying to obtain a post working for a larger organisation, even abroad if possible. Thanks Lizzie

Posted By garyh With all due respect there is world of difference being on the other side of the desk.
I would bring out your transferable skills, achievements and areas of expertise rather than a chronlogical list of tasks and jobs done.

Posted By Jools.H Hi Lizzie, I have a good template which doesn't use the standard format. It highlights your achievements and it will stand out from a bunch of other CV's on your new prospective boss's desk. Email me, I'll send it your way.
And good luck!

Posted By pricek Hi Lizzie, Try contacting Emily on the email address below. Yesterday she emailed me over a couple of documents to help with CV writing (specifically for Health and Safety Professionals) which were very useful as it is always handy to keep your CV up to date.
