Reciprocity is an area that hasn't been fully explored in Canada, or anywhere else.
NOIA (Newfoundland Ocean Industries) includes this statement on their website - "The global offshore oil and gas industry is a dynamic industry with a highly mobile workforce. Offshore rigs are individual multicultural communities with workers from all over the world. As a result, many of these workers have received their qualifications and certifications in different jurisdictions. Also, as workers move between jurisdictions, they and their companies are faced with differences regarding how these certifications are recognized, and for how long they are valid..."
IOSH and the CSSE have a formal working relationship, but there are particular requirements for membership and CRSP recognition. Degree-level qualifications are usually recognised, but it can be prohibitive for those with trade qualifications. It's the same for people coming the other way, though.
I had to re-do all of my Canadian qualifications when I arrived in 1992, and my CMIOSH still won't get me CRSP (although it did get earn CSSE Professional Member status). Best to detail your qualifications and get advice directly from CSSE.
Good luck with it.
Regards/Paul
