seen a job in Algeciras a few months ago, as well as one in Gibraltar....so there must be some out there.

Have a trawl of the internet and see what you can find.

Might be worth contacting a few agencies aswell, they are well tuned into whats going on.

Hi, I am a Spanish H&S professional working in the UK.

In Spain H&S consultancy is an official profession regulated by the government. You need a Master degree and the competences are set up by the Law 91/1995 of Prevention of Occupational Risks (Prevención de Riesgos Laborales). The main difference with British approach is that any Risk Assessment and the management of any HS Management System must be supervised by one of these professionals.

On the other hand, working as the “competent person” for a company does not require any specific qualification, as long as he/she is advised by one of those. Thus, you could work for any company straight away if you can prove your competence

Hence that the OSH working market in Spain is huge and very well established. Depending on your qualifications you may apply for a validation (excuse my Spanglish) of your diplomas as both regulations come from UE directives.

It’s funny because I have the same problem to apply for a GradIOSHH membership: IOSHH doesn’t recognize my diploma so I have to go through an unencouraging process of validation (oops, Spanglish again).

Email me if you want further info: fergotor@hotmail.com

I hope this helps,

Fernando González
