Good morning Careers Forum.
My Name is George Robertson and I'm looking for any health and safety vacancies, preferably in Scotland but I will move for the right position. I have a NEBOSH National General Certificate and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management as well as many other occupational safety qualifications and experience. I work for Babcock Naval Services at present but the company are restructuring and my job is at risk of redundancy.
I am a member of IOSH and IIRSM and have construction and major projects experience as well as working for the MOD/BNS in a multidisciplinary organisation.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Check the Herald on a Friday and the monthly edition of the SHP this has vacancies for Health and Safety Advisers / Managers with construction experience. Also request updates from S1jobs.com and Jobsite.co.uk, there is always vacancies for your field.

Good Luck

Thank you for the good advice Fred,

I have done all that you have suggested and I have been contacted by concerned members outwith the Careers Forum with good advice.

You are the only member to have responded in the Careers Forum which is disappointing. Thank you for your advice.

SHP have proven to be the best source of assistance in finding possible new jobs.

I will continue to apply and keep looking, I'm sure there are others like me out there, who's employers are restructuring and feel left out in the cold through no fault of there own, it just gets a bit disheartening when I'm on a potential redundancy list when new staff are being employed, even new senior safety advisers coming into the company.

It brings a new meaning to 'investors in people' don't you think?

HI George,

There maybe a H&S position available in our company (permanent) in Glasgow though there will be a substantial amount of travelling to sites throughout the UK & Ireland. If interested please send your CV to myself by e-mail.

I wouldn't worry too much new staff are not subject to the restructuring process, I seem to have been the last in the Health and Safety Department.
I was successful at applying for my own job and have now been offered a new contract.
However the whole process has made me a bit disappointed with the company.
This is just an honest opinion but you would obviously form your own if successful.

Good luck with the interview.

Regards

George
