Posted By maxmillan maddy Hi Everyone
Being unemployed for almost about 6months now due to family committments.
I used to work with a manufacturing company as a line supervisor for 6 years of which I was a health and safety systems owner for 3years.
My roles and responsibilities were;
Conducting Risk assessments. Accident Investigations. Production line Inspections. Training and assessing staff on Standard operating procedures of equipments. Coaching staff on the identification of dangerous occurrences.
I Have had various in house training such as; Supervising Safely (iosh) Train the trainer. A 4 day health and safety workshop. First Aider. Fire extinguisher Training.
I am due to start the NEBOSH in construction in September.
My career objective is to become a Trainee health and safety consultant.
Would any health and safety consultancy give me that opportunity to develop both personally and professionally.
I am reliable, honest and hardworking.Willing to start from somewhere and move up the ladder.
Also willing to travel any where in the east midlands.
Thanks

My personal view is that you may be better looking to work in an advisor role in a business first, as many consultancies will need higher level qualifications (CMIOSH etc.).
This is usually because we need to demonstrate to our clients that our people are more experienced, have access to better tools and are legally competent. This is also for liability reasons.
The yellow pages may be a good place to start for small local consultancies and perhaps some of the insurance broker type consultancies, as they do use junior staff.
Good luck
