Does anyone know of any good companies currently recruiting CDM C's in Sheffield, South Manchester, Derby or Nottingham?

Or somewhere that's within commuting distance to from just south of Sheffield.

Email me please (preferably not agencies).

Mal, and for anyone else concerned that a contact address has not been included; if you click on the name after where it says 'posted by', you will be taken directly to that persons email contact (as long as you are signed in of course) This will avoid anyone having to submit an email address thus avoiding further spam in the mail box.

You probably knew that anyway, but thought if anyone did not, this was a timely occasion to post the info.

All the best

What are the main CDM regs?

Been for an interview today and was told to get to know them for a test at a second interview.

I don't think it will be a 2 hour exam, but I will be asked about them, and asked to demonstrate my understanding of them.

Anyone?

I'll thank CFT now, as he always gives his knowledge!

Regards

My knowledge has left home, so I shan't be responding other than to say good luck with the interview and read the ACoP cover to cover 6 times before you go.

Hey Merlin,

It's an entry level position, even you were born without some knowledge surely?

Anyway, thanks for the links.

To add to CFT's post above, in order to make the e-mail links live you do have to be registered and logged in.

(Just in case...)

You are quite correct; I did state "when you are signed in" as being the inference to registering and logging in; clearly I did not make that plain enough and I thank you for the follow up.

Many thanks

What I was getting at you in reply to your post, it was this

It read “what are the main CDM regs” as you was about to take a second interview
If I was asking you back for a second interview, I probably would have talked in the first interview about construction

So if the job was in construction I would have expected you to know “what are the main CDM regs” not word for word, but have an understanding of what the main regs are

Sometimes when we answer to these threads we have to make an assumption as to where in the scheme of things the question comes from

And to answer you question I posted a link to the main CDM regs

And yes I was born with some knowledge, but did my research before I applied for a post I had too otherwise I would not have got my first post in HS

Sorry if I upset you but I try to be honest, I am very pleased to see you got the job and if you ever need any help I am here just like all the rest we do try to help

Merlin

Merlin,

Truth be told, I did not know what position I was going for until I actually got there. I was getting pretty disillusioned at not being able to get my foot on the ladder. So I got a copy of SHP and sent the same letter, along with my CV to over 100 email addresses and around 50 hard copies via snail mail (sorry to anyone who thought I was spamming their places of work). The letter wasn't quite a begging letter, more of a 'please give me a chance' letter.

I got a call from a consultancy who asked me to pop along for a chat, I didn't even have time to find out what they specialised in, until I was told in the interview. It was then that I was told to get to know the main CDM regs for a second interview.

To say that I am delighted is a massive understatement, especially after what is probably 20 knock backs after interviews in the last 6 months. I have taken quite a drop in salary to take this position, but if in 4 or 5 years time I am a competent safety professional then it will have been worth every missed night out, not being able to change my car every other year and not having an expensive holiday every 6 months. Worth every lost penny!

BTW, you didn't upset me, I was trying to make a joke linking your name. Thank god I'm not trying for a stage career eh.

I am sure that tomorrow when Merlin reads your reply he may eat humble pie

We have all been there, well most. After 30years in transport and witnessed to a driver get killed I know I had to try and stop this happening again, but it took me 6 years before I got my first break, but I could not do it until I put my hands up and asked for help, now I help others so much so the forum moderators gave me a warning on passing documents around, I don’t care if I have it and some one can use it to help them keep safe then so be it.i spent the money on the document and if i wish for someone to have it or a copy of it then its upto me.
Anyway getting back to the subject, both Merlin and myself are chuffed that you have got a start, the job is hard but can be very rewarding so if you need any help we are just a the end on an email
Best of luck keep at’em
