I have recently decided to pursue a career in ohs and have enrolled for the Australian certificate iv in Occupational Health and Safety, as I currently live in Australia. If I were to return to the U.K would this qualification count towards anything in respect of applying for an Ohs job in the U.K?

Hopefully by the time I return to the U.K I would have work experience in Ohs as well.

Thanks for your assistance.
aidy.

I'm not sure if your qualification would work here. However, I am interested in wether an NVQ Level III in OSH would be accepted in Oz.
I am planning to migrate in the next year, and would be interested to know how to network in this area.

Hi,
In order to get into OZ you first need your qualifications assessed by Vetassess in Melbourne. All the information I have received is that to become an Occupational health and safety officer, which is a 50 point occupation, you need a degree. Now the crazy thing is it can be in anything not necessarily health and safety, which is ridiculous. The NVQ 3 unfortunately will never get you the 50 points and to be honest I am not sure whether it qualifies for 40 points either.
I have applied with a Diploma level 6 (equivalent to an honours degree) and am waiting with baited breath for the outcome, but really don't know which way it will go.

Good luck
