Posted By Mr. S. R. Clegg Having just been made redundant at 56 I am thinking about trying self employment, aiming at small businesses - audits, H & S Policies. I have NEBOSH Nat. Gen., COTC, TechIOSH & MIQ, Any advice would be helpful.

Posted By Darren J Fraser Before taking the plunge, you need to ask yourself the following questions: What is the competition? What can I offer that is different? What is my market? How and what am I going to advertise? From here you then need to look at insurance, charges etc. If you conduct a search forum across all years you should be able to discover many threads on this particular topic, with plenty of good advice. Good luck for the future

Posted By J. Robin Gatenby The only other thing I would add is to ask your self "can I sell it?" The selling can be harder than the work! You could also consider doing short term contract work either self-employed/own company or on the books of an agency, this also means the money comes in more reliably as the agency pays you!! Good luck Robin
