I'm interested in emmigrating to Australia and continuing my health and safety career there. I hae Part 1 of the NEBOSH diploma and about to embark on studying for my construction certificate to widen my scope. I have 5 years experience working in the waste industry but also diversifying into parks and open spaces and cemetery safety. My "specialised" areas are vibration, noise and manual handling.
I have enough points to qualify entry into Australia but I assume I need a company to sponsor me. I've looked on a couple of websites for jobs but they all specify that you must have eligibilty to work in Australia.
Can anyone recommend any sites to visit and how I progress my dream of working in such a wonderful country! Please! It's consuming my every thought!

Emma,
I like you am following the dream of moving to OZ but unfortunately we both need a 50 point occupation at the moment to get in. What you first need to do is get your qualifications assessed by Vetassess in Melbourne. Now to become a health and safety officer you need 50 points but what you have so far will not get you 50 points unless you have a degree in anything? Yes this is the crazy thing so long as you have a degree in any subject you can get 50 points.
I have the new level 6 diploma and am waiting to see if this is good enough as a degree equivalent.
Otherwise company sponsorship is the way to go.
Good luck
Jason
