Well apart from the tax free payments there is the seemingly impossible task of finding information about H&S (OSH) in NZ!

Whether it be info on qualifications, opportunities or potential salaries within the H&S arena downunder, trying to unearth this info appears to be a thankless task.

My situation (a comfortable one, I am frustrated but not depressed!) can be summed up as follows;

1. I am 26.
2. I hold the following qualifications; BSc Hons Genetics. Postgrad Diploma-Management Studies. NEBOSH General Cert.
3. As a trained scientist I have Laboratory experience.
4. I currently work in London.
5. I have trained as a Transport Manager and since 2004 have worked as a Railway Station Manager responsible for 80+ staff and 17 station in London.
6. I have some practical experience of H&S, considerable in respect of operational experience but less so in regard of formal aspects such as report writing. Still my experience is 'rounded'.
7. My company is willing to fund a NEBOSH diploma but this will contractually lock me in 2yrs or I pay the costs (not such a terrible prospect)

Crucially, my partner is from what she describes as the promised land! and although I am possibly brainwashed I have to admit that the potential to emigrate is tempting.

I would like to explore the possibilty of developing a H&S career in NZ. My research thus far is considerable but info is far from forthcoming and is rarely precisely specific to NZ.

Please can anyone help with the following:

1. Any sources of information regarding H&S prospects, salaries, general opportunities in NZ.
2. Your general feel for such prospects (peoples views are often more reliable than stats and websites with hidden adgendas)
3. Is the H&S industry in NZ healthy, my impression is that it is in early but progressive development-I'm told it may be the next big thing in NZ.
4. Are the NEBOSH qualifications recognised in NZ. I appreciate some comments suggesting that AUZ look for degrees, might this apply to NZ, might this change?
5. Which qualifications are actually recognised in NZ H&S?
6. Where might I study such qualifications?
7. Am I wasting my time in consideration that my current role is not dedicated to H&S and thus I have arguably limited formal experience.

NZ holiday's are available to anyone who can successfully help me with this-the decision of all decisions (thus far in my young life!) **subject to ever getting there :-)

Thanks for any help that is offered.

I worked as HSE Manager in NZ from 2002 until last year and now moved back to Dubai. Great place, small country. HSE is developing so UK skills appreciated. Salaries are below UK & Oz. Dont expect to commute to UK regularly. HSE positions are limited due to lack of size. Great place if all of above taken into account. As comparison: Dubai much closer to UK and completely different but still good.
