Hello all
Basic rundown of who I am - 25 yr old male, living in Perth Western Australia, Working in Malaysia as a safety rep/paramedic on rotation on an offshore drilling unit. I am very keen to learn more than what the company teaches me in the way of OHS. I currently have numerous tickets under my belt including an Intro to OSH and a cert IV in OSH. I eventually wish to work in the UK or Europe as Safety Manager instead of just handing out PPE like I am currently doing. I am unfamiliar with the NEBOSH system but know that its probably the way to go if I wish to base myself in the EU/UK. Can somebody please tell me the the tickets needed to reach my target. Should I continue on with my Australian studies ie; Cert IV OHS, Dip OHS, Adv Dip OHS then degree or is it better to undergo NEBOSH training? Does NEBOSH offer a degree? Any help would be great. Thanks

Cheers for the info mate, i checked it out and it is the degree I originally intended on doing. I have found a similar degree offered in the eastern states of Australia. What is the difference though? Surely if IOSH approve one degree, they would approve the other. Dont they all provide the same curriculum?

Hi Benjamin.
The other university may not have contacted IOSH to discuss accreditation.
Alternately the syllabus may be different. I can think of at least one H&S degree course in the UK which is NOT accredited.

Peter has given you correct information regarding the Australian degree level courses. The ones on our list are purely those that have applied for accreditation. There are to my knowledge 15 Australian Universities offering OSH courses and even though not accredited directly by IOSH can be considered for IOSH membership under our overseas route which reviews qualifications using the UK NARIC system for equivalence. As all Australian degrees normally come out as similar to UK ones it is a pretty safe bet to say any Australian degree in OSH will give Graduate Membership of IOSH.
