HI
I am currently working 3 days a week for one of the emergency services as an h/s officer and in the process of applying to take the nvq 4 I have looked into taking the 3x 2 week course but have been told pass rate is not that good any thoughts on that? If anyone has 2 days a week where I could do some consultancy / advisory work to aid me in my quest for the nvq 4 I would be grateful. I currently have the Iosh managing safety and the Nebosh cert and have several assessors certs also I have Tech Iosh if anyone knows of a better way of attaining the diploma please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Not certain who has been advising you on the benefits of NVQ 4 but that is basically a crock of nonsense. You apply to a provider either C&G or OCR and plod on through the modules getting each section or sections signed off, when complete and it will range from 3 months to a few years, (greatly depends on your own capabilities and the assessor for the provider) at completion it will then complete the internal verification cycle and be presented to the officer responsible for external verification, when signed off you will have passed and will have NVQ level 4 to your name not level 4 as VQ and dip are at level 6, (I know its odd) and away you go to send it off to IOSH for a well earned change in current status of membership, then the hard work starts.

Anyway, that is enough for now, if you want a friendly talk on the telling bone just email me via the link.

Allan,

Huge piece of advice:

Before you start the NVQ4 find out exactly what evidence that you will need and if you are able to get it in your current job

Get a good idea of what you need to know/ produce to gain the qualification
