good day as you can see by the subject i am looking for work (unfortunately ) every job that is advertised always want the candidate to be fully qualified with years of experience. is there anyone out there willing to give us newly qualified a chance i sometimes wonder how people started in this occupation, anyway enough of my moaning, just to let you all know i started my career working for my company installing garage doors on building sites all over the UK, so i did have knowledge of h&s on sites, then was asked to do training for assessing(A1)so our guys could gain quals to gain there cscs cards,(stop me if i am boring you) then i became training officer.which led to my role as h&s officer and my level 4inoccupational health and safety. the moral of the story is ? although i have worked on construction sites for over 12 yr assessed for 3yr (part time due to other commitments )and actually been doing h&s continuously for 18month i do not seem to be given a chance to use all of this. had even my employer used me to my full extent(i feel all they have done is get me qualified so they are covering there selves as regards to regs and not actually letting me do my job correctly)i would now not be looking to leave there service after 10yr.

I know it can be soul destroying when you keep hearing the same old story.
My advice to you is to contact every recruitment agency in your area. Register on Monster and other web based agencies.
That is how I got my start in the company. Also network at events, let people know who you are, what you can do. I get phone calls from Recruitment agencies asking if I can recommend someone.
Best Of Luck David.

Apply for a position basd upon what you have just said. Articulately complete a CV, tailor it t match the position and get an interview or three. Once that foot is in the door your strength of character and personality should get you further.
I am not advocating applying and successfully gaining a position where you would be out of your depth, many that are advertised will suit you I suspect and that construction knowledge will go a long long way.
Don't loose heart, one must kiss up to a few ducks before eventually caressing the swan; if you want it, it will happen, have no doubts about that!
Charley (with only 7 years 5 months and 13 days to go until I retire)
