Please forgive me for hijacking this thread - Could someone please advise on the Visa application process - i.e what is involved in it, such as Medicals, Insurances, Sponsorship etc

I have just been through the process and it took 2 months to get everything (employment and residency)
It depends upon how proactive your employer is, e.g. if they start the process before you arrive in the country, or if you work in a free zone or not (if you do it will be quicker)
In terms of the process itself, although it took a while, it was quite easy as my employer did everything for me, which you should expect from a decent employer. After nearly two months, they gave me a ring and sent me to the hospital for the medical which took about an hour. Two days later i had the Visa.
