Posted By craig davies Some advice please, I wish to continue developing my academic skills but i am unsure which qualifications i should undertake next so that: 1. I do not waste my time, i.e. would an MSc benefit me to a future employer 2. Improve my overall skills and professionalism in the academic field. I currently have about 10-years H,S and E experience in the fields of Manufacturing, Security and Retail with steady career progression and currently manage a department of H,S and E professionals. And hopefully this time next year i will have achieved CMIOSH. I also have the following relevant qualifications: 1. Nebosh level 6 diploma in H+s 2. AIEMA Cert in Environ Mgmt 3. AIEMA Cert in Internal Auditing 4. CIEH Professional trainers cert 5. Construction Site Safety Mgmt Certificate I have considered doing a Diploma in Risk Mtg and also a MSc in Environmental Mgmt. What advice can you give me?

Posted By Paul Harrison Hi Craig, Being in a similar position to yourself albeit through a different route (Bsc(Hons) & PgDip etc), I have been researching the value of additional quals to further my desirability to potential employers. Difficult, as my ex wife has told me in the past:-) One qualification that seems to keep on popping up through talking to collegues (not all OSH professionals), but one I've not really considered in the past, is a pure management qual e.g. DMS, MBA or other derivatives. I dont' want to hijack your thread but in the terms of 'added value', I'd be interested to see what our peers think. I personally think your more than adequately academically qualified, but hey what do I know. Cheers Paul

Posted By ITK I agree with Paul to a certain extent, how would an Msc help you or your employer, you already appear to be very well qualified. If I were you I would just stick with the CPD.
