hi i am starting the nebosh general certifcate course in september and currently a qualified engineer, are there many opportunities abroad on fly in fly out rotas i.e. 8 weeks on 4 off or any jobs abroad with accomodation on a rota but you stay in the country on your time off.
are these jobs out there? how much can i expect them to pay?
any info much appreciated

What kind of engineer? Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear physics?? engineers generally make good safety people but you will still struggle with only a NGC. I would go straight for a diploma and knock yourself out.
Yes there are jobs available of the kind your seeking. In my company we have HSE Electrical specialists, HSE Scaffolding Specialists and HSE Construction Specialists. However the specialism is just that as we are all general HSE Practitioners first. So you see it depends on what your expertise is really!

hi thanks for your reply i have done an apprenticeship with caterpillar (heavy earthmoving machinery) and have experience in workshops, mines, out in the field etc...
can you suggest somewhere i might be able to view the jobs? will they give you a job on the basis you study for diploma part time?

Type "oil careers" into Google and follow the links.
Your experience with maintaining Caterpillar equipment in the field is likely to open a few doors for you, I reckon.
