career change- job search Aberdeen area

Hi,
I've just recently joined the forum and I am searching for an entry position in the HSE field, preferrably in the Oil and gas industry in the Aberdeen area, following a career change and having just completed the NEBOSH general certificate course.
In July 2007, I 'retired' at the young age of 48(and a half!) after 30 years service with the local police force, where I served in a variety of roles, latterly as security manager of the Crime Reduction Unit.
Through the variety of roles, I have developed a wide range of skills which are transferrable to the area of HSE such as accident investigation, site inspection, report writing with recommendations, team work, communication with all levels of staff, training and an ability to interpret and apply legislation. My different roles also required a degree of risk assessment such as when deploying staff in reaction to an incident or in proactive planning for events such as football matches or execution of drug search warrants or events where there was a requirement for counter-terrorism.
In my change of career I regard HSE work as very similar to Police work where there is a legal requirement to keep communities safe and close attention is paid to their health and welfare. A number of my roles, such as advanced road accident investigation, Crime Reduction Search advisor and off course team manager involved considerable problem solving which, again is a skill very compatible with HSE work.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who can offer a position in HSE work in the Aberdeen area which will allow me to develop my experience in HSE work but also would benefit from my considerable experience in the areas mentioned.
My contact email is ron@rjconsultancy.org.uk
