Posted By Shane Long Hi, i'm wondering does anybody know who provides the best health and safety university distance learning course in Australia. The reason I ask is that i'm currently in Ireland, but am hoping to leave for Australia next year. Before I do however I would like to have a postgrad course in safety and health under my belt from Australia, before I arrive.

Posted By jason preston Hi Shane, I dont know your situation but getting into Australia is getting harder and harder in my experience. Just a plain course will achieve nothing. You basically need a degree and then 1 year work experience post degree. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but these are the facts. NEBOSH is not recognised in any way by the skills assessment people in OZ.

Posted By Andrew J Hi Shane, I am an Aussie living and working in Abu Dhabi and hopefully soon become a Charter Member of IOSH. I completed a Post Graduate Uni course in Australia a few years ago through distance learning. My opinion the two best uni's offering distance safety courses are Curtin University in Western Australia and Newcastle University. I selected Curtin Uni as it's course was recognised be IOSH! The course was good and the staff very helpful. My knowledge of the this subject is a couple of years old so there may be some other ones to look at - but that should be a good start for you. If you look at the internationally recognised courses on the this website it may list another one or two - I can not remember.
